I’m about a month late in posting this, but as of November 1st I began a postdoctoral fellowship with Ben Matthews at UBC. I will be investigating the behaviour, ecology, and genomics of mosquitoes in order to answer several questions, including why some species excel at becoming wide-spread invasive organisms. I will be working with several mosquitoes to do this, including the yellow fever mosquito, Aedes aegypti, and one of my personal favourites, the coastal rock pool mosquitoes Aedes togoi. Stay tuned!
My research is currently gearing up in anticipation of the summer mosquito season, with field tests of various mosquito baits and repellents as the main priorities. Furthermore, I am currently collaborating with Dr. Peter Belton and Dr. Sean McCann to write a guide to the mosquitoes of the Yukon.
